At CES 2026, Eve Systems unveiled its first Matter-enabled wall thermostat – a model designed for water-based underfloor heating systems in the United States. Now, the ABB subsidiary is introducing its European counterpart: the local Eve Thermostat (link), a version specifically developed for European heating systems. The wall thermostat communicates via Matter over Thread, operates entirely without a vendor cloud, and is available immediately.
Matter over Thread for Individual Room Control
The wall-mounted thermostat enables individual heating zones to be controlled via app, voice assistant, or schedule. Thanks to Matter, it integrates with smart home platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. Communication takes place over the Thread wireless protocol and requires an installed Thread Border Router.
Since not every Matter ecosystem currently supports thermostat schedules, Eve has integrated this functionality into its own app. It runs on an iPhone or iPad together with Apple Home, or on Android devices in combination with a smart home managed through Google Home. The Eve app for iOS already supports the new thermostat, while an Android update is scheduled for early August.
Like all previous Eve products, the new thermostat operates without a vendor cloud or email registration. According to the manufacturer, all features are available at no additional cost, and no personal user data is collected.
Silent Control of Heating Zones
By default, Eve Thermostat controls the 230 V thermal actuators used in hydronic underfloor heating systems through a silent triac switch. For actuators or valves that require relay switching – typically recognizable by a characteristic clicking sound – the thermostat also provides dedicated outputs and a selector switch.
Additional features include a large dimmable display with automatic ambient light adjustment, as well as an optional display timeout that turns off the screen after a predefined period, making the thermostat suitable for use in bedrooms.
