Shelly Announces Additional Matter Products for 2026

New products are pouring out of Shelly Group’s (link) development pipeline. For the coming weeks and months, the European manufacturer has announced nearly a dozen devices that will all support the cross-vendor smart home standard Matter. As expected, these are models with Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity. While the company also offers Bluetooth, Z-Wave, and Zigbee products, it has so far avoided Thread as a wireless protocol.

Shelly Plug M: New Smart Plug from the Gen3 Line

It starts with a smart plug that is already available: the Plug M Gen3 is part of Shelly’s third generation of hardware, which is only partially equipped with Matter. It can handle stronger currents than the Plug S Gen3, increasing the connectable power from 2500 to 3000 watts. At the same time, the housing has grown slightly and now has an angular shape. Dropping the LED light ring found on the round Plug S also results in a lower retail price. Instead, the power button indicates the operating status and the current power draw through changing colors. Energy monitoring is also included.

Shelly Flood S Gen4: Water Sensor with Matter

Shelly’s existing water detector with sensor cable is getting a disk-shaped sibling: the Flood S Gen4 is placed directly on the floor, where it detects leaks or flooding. It is part of a series of devices from the current fourth generation of hardware and software that are gradually being launched on the market. These include four flush-mounted modules in the classic Shelly design. The 1L Gen4 (1-channel) and 2L Gen4 (2-channel) switch actuators are designed for installations without a neutral conductor. The i4 Gen4 and i4 DC Gen4 input readers do not use a relay, but instead trigger other actuators or smart home scenes. Both have four inputs each – the i4 DC for low voltages with 5 to 24 volts DC.

Shelly Plug C / C PM: The Smart Schuko Plug

Shelly is launching a variation on the smart plug theme with its Plug C Gen4 and Plug C PM Gen4. The technology is housed in a European Schuko plug that can be attached to the end of the power cord of devices. This eliminates the need for an intermediate plug, making the product a particularly space-saving solution – for example, behind furniture that stands against the wall. Both models are available in black and white. However, they differ in terms of their features: the Plug C PM (16 amps) only measures energy consumption, for example, on devices such as refrigerators that need to remain on at all times. Its counterpart, the Plug C with 14 amps, can also switch devices on and off.

Shelly EM Gen4: Compact Energy Meter

The new Matter-compatible EM Gen4 is also designed to provide greater energy transparency and efficiency in smart homes. The energy meter has a dry-free contact that can be used to control a power contactor or other switching device. It monitors individual circuits and can measure the energy flow using a clamp attached to the conductor. The data is also stored locally on an integrated flash memory. Compared to its predecessor, the EM Gen3, this memory is now twice as large (16 MB) and, thanks to the new platform, Zigbee and Matter over Wi-Fi are available for connection in addition to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

First Matter Product from the Pro Series

The previously announced Matter update for Pro devices has not materialized. However, with the Shelly PRO 1PM 40A Gen4, the standard is now finding its way into distribution boxes: The 1-channel switch actuator for DIN rails is the manufacturer’s first product with true multi-protocol capability. Shelly recommends it for “remote control and precise consumption measurement of powerful devices or lighting systems in professional environments.” The 1PM is also intended to be only the first model with the new technology. After previously only offering first- and second-generation devices in the Pro series, the range is now being gradually converted to Gen4.
