Samsung has published a list of its devices that come with a built-in SmartThings hub (link). These devices can serve as Matter Controllers, among other functions. Since 2023, the company has been pursuing its “Hub Everywhere” strategy, which integrates smart home control centers into a wide range of Samsung products. Paired with the SmartThings app, these devices coordinate and automate smart home gadgets across the household. When multiple Samsung products with built-in hubs are present in the same setup, they automatically form a group and complement each other’s functions.
For example, multiple hubs can extend the wireless network for Zigbee and Thread devices. Another advantage: Samsung’s automations – called “Routines – run faster and can even work without an internet connection when managed within a hub group. If you add a new compatible hub to your setup, it will automatically create a group if none exists yet. Alternatively, groups can be manually created and managed.
