The English term Matter can mean a lot of things: a physical substance for example, a situation or a state. As of today, it has yet another meaning: Matter is the name of an upcoming, manufacturer-independent smart home standard. What began about 18 months ago as Project CHIP (Connected Home over IP) is now taking shape. The website buildwithmatter.com is online and shows the new logo of Matter. At the same time, the Zigbee Alliance involved has renamed itself the Connectivity Standards Alliance. The standardization body is now also appearing with a new logo and a new website: csa-iot.org.
