Wibutler Pro with app

Wibutler Pro to support Matter

With the German Wibutler platform, another system from the professional building technology sector is adopting the Matter standard. As the operator DBT announces in its company blog (link), the 2nd generation system center – called wibutler pro – is to receive a software update for the standard. According to the manufacturer, this will make it possible to initially integrate ten of the product categories provided for in Matter:

  • Thermostats
  • Humidity values
  • Lights
  • On/off switch
  • Door/window sensors
  • Motion detectors
  • Shading
  • Fans
  • Brightness sensors
  • CO2 sensors

The Wibutler Pro passes on its products as a Matter Bridge to compatible systems such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home or SmartThings. Find out more about the background in this interview with Michael Jüdiges from DBT. Matter integration initially involves components from Wibutler partners – such as LED lighting from Bega, actuators from Eltako, Oventrop room operating units or Viessmann ViCare thermostats. According to information from the manufacturer alliance, it combines products from over 40, mostly medium-sized companies on its platform. Besides Wi-Fi, EnOcean and Zigbee are also used as wireless protocols. The compatibility list on the Internet provides an overview (link).

However, an opening for products from other manufacturers is not ruled out. According to Jüdiges in the interview with matter-smarthome, the Wibutler Pro could technically also function as a Matter Controller at a later date – to set up and control Matter products of any brand. The second-generation Wibutler Pro also already provides for the Thread wireless protocol. It could be activated via a software update.
