Hama announces Matter support

German accessories specialist Hama (link) will make its smart home products compatible with the Matter standard. The Bavarian company announced its intention to have a wide range of products licensed for Matter. Sockets, illuminants and lamps, heating controls and security systems would gradually be equipped with the new technology. This not only applies to new products, but also „products already on the market will be retrofitted with a software update,“ according to the supplier.

The Hama app, which will continue to manage all devices and add new products to the smart home, will provide corresponding information about software updates. The smooth entry is possible because Hama has been using technology from Tuya in its products for some time. The OEM provider and supplier from Hangzhou in China operates its own IoT platform and is a member of the Connectivity Standards Allience. As such, it has been involved in the development of the Matter standard from the beginning. Companies that use Tuya technology thus benefit from the accumulated know-how of their supplier.
