The southern German electronics company Eltako (link) has launched its first product for the Matter smart home standard. The EUD62NPN-IPM Wi-Fi dimming actuator in its typical blue design is intended for installation in flush-mounted boxes. It complements the manufacturer’s existing 62 series, which is certified for Apple Home. Originally, it was also intended for an update to the Matter standard (“built for Matter”), but Eltako decided in the course of development to produce new editions.
Buyers of the HomeKit versions at the time were given a note with the packaging that they could exchange their copy for the new actuator when the Matter products were released. Interested parties should contact the manufacturer’s sales department. In the future, this will also apply to the remaining models in the 62 series (link): an actuator for blinds and two impulse switching relays (potential-free and non-potential-free). Eltako also wants to bring Matter versions of these onto the market and offer early customers a replacement. The company has not yet given any dates for these additional components.
All products are developed at the company headquarters in Fellbach near Stuttgart and manufactured at an ISO-certified production facility in Shenzhen (China). Eltako is a family-run company that has existed since 1949 and owes its name to an invention by its founder Horst Ziegler. His “Elektrischer Tast-Kontakt” (Electrical push-button contact), ELTAKO for short, became the generic term for so-called impulse switches – electromagnetic relays that change their switching state when an electrical impulse is applied. Today, Eltako offers a whole range of switching devices, power supply units and components for building automation.
