Belkin is preparing its Wemo smart home brand for the new Matter standard. At the CES electronics trade show in Las Vegas, the California-based company announced new versions of three of its products. The Wemo Smart Plug, the Wemo Smart Light Switch and the Wemo Smart Dimmer are to appear in another version with the radio standard Thread. Wemo’s Smart Plug has already appeared in the American online store.
A software update later this year will then make all three compatible with the upcoming Matter standard. The official announcement (link) only mentions „Matter over Thread“. Already available WLAN versions of Plug, Switch and Dimmer are not referred to there. It is therefore unclear whether they will also receive a Matter update at some point in the future.
