Wall and Ceiling Lights With Matter From Ledvance

One aspect of the Matter standard has so far been rather underexposed: the ability to offer fully assembled table, wall, or ceiling fixtures with the technology built in. There are plenty of LED bulbs and light strips on the market, but hardly any decorative luminaires with Matter – apart from integrated systems like Philips Hue or Wiz. Ledvance (link) is now stepping into this gap and aims to become a major provider of Matter-enabled lighting fixtures.

The Chinese LED specialist – also known in Europe and North America under the brand names Osram / Sylvania – has announced more than 80 lighting models. They use Wi-Fi to connect to the home network (Matter over Wi-Fi) and can therefore be integrated into numerous smart home systems. For those who don’t use controls from Amazon, Apple, Google, SmartThings, etc., the Ledvance Smart+ app is available as an alternative.

Track Lights with Matter

The new lineup covers a wide range of applications. It starts with spotlights and floodlights for Ledvance’s high-voltage track system: two so-called tracklights highlight wall art or furniture. The adjustable and pivoting spots, named Circle and Osaka, are available in black or white housings and provide tunable white light (3000 K to 6500 K).

Decorative Matter Fixtures in Many Variants

Various wall sconces – including wood versions like the Orbis Wood (above) – provide indirect lighting. Some are suitable for placement in bathrooms next to the mirror, such as the splash-proof Orbis Bath series (main image at top) and Orbis Aqua. Most deliver tunable white light, but there are also RGB models, such as the Adjustable Beam Wall light cube.

Surface-mounted ceiling lights with names like Claria, Spiral, or Stea bring remote-controllable lighting to any room, supplemented by downlights and flush-mounted models. The Planon series offers panel lights in various sizes and thicknesses – from small and square (30 × 30 cm) up to 120 cm in length. The new range of Matter-capable fixtures is scheduled to hit the market this fall, with the first models launching in October. The manufacturer’s international product pages provide an overview (link). This brings closer what some have been expecting (or at least hoping for) for some time: a uniform standard for lighting control in the end consumer market.
