After 14 years, Netatmo (link) is renewing its heating portfolio. The smart home subsidiary of French electrical group Legrand is launching a fully redesigned generation of thermostats. Two new models were unveiled: the Thermostat Original for central heating control and the Radiator Thermostat Original for individual radiators. The former is available as a wired wall-mounted version as well as a wireless thermostat designed for flexible placement. According to the manufacturer, installation takes less than 30 minutes, and the device is compatible with most common heating systems. The press release lists gas and oil boilers, air-to-water heat pumps, and wood or pellet stoves.

Matter Support Requires a Bridge
A key feature of the new product line is support for the Matter smart home standard. However, Matter is not integrated directly into the thermostats themselves and requires the included Thermo Hub. This base station for Netatmo’s proprietary wireless system acts as a gateway. It connects all heating devices in the home to the manufacturer’s app and functions as a Matter Bridge to platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings.
New App Replaces Previous Energy App
With the new product generation, Netatmo is also discontinuing its previous “Energy” app. Going forward, temperature control will be handled via the “Home + Control” app, which is already used for other brands within the Legrand Group. It offers features such as Eco-Assist for presence-based heating control (using geolocation), customizable heating schedules, and notifications and alerts, including system fault warnings. The goal of this consolidation is a central user interface for heating, lighting, shutters, and other smart home components from the group.

The Thermostat Original is available immediately, while the radiator thermostat is expected to reach the market at the start of the next heating season in 2026. The wall-mounted version is priced at €140 in Europe, with the wireless version costing €10 more. Netatmo has not yet disclosed pricing for the radiator thermostats.
