Eve Systems (link) has unveiled a second motor option for its Motionblinds Upgrade Kit. The new version is designed for slimmer roller tubes with an outer diameter of 25 to 30 millimeters and supports widths starting at 57 centimeters. An included adapter set is intended to enable installation in a range of tube systems. The existing kit is built for larger diameters of 38 to 51 millimeters.
Drive With Matter Over Thread
Technically, the concept remains unchanged: the motor communicates via Thread and can be added to compatible platforms using a Matter QR code. Schedules and automations – such as opening and closing based on sunrise, sunset, or presence – can be configured in the Eve app or in the respective ecosystem’s native app. Upper, lower, and favorite positions can be set either in the Eve app or manually on the device itself. An adaptive shading feature takes the sun’s position into account to help prevent rooms from overheating. The integrated battery charges via USB-C and, according to the manufacturer, can last up to one year under typical use.
With the additional motor option, Eve expands its retrofit approach: existing roller shades can be motorized without hardwiring, reducing installation effort and avoiding the replacement of fully functional setups. The new 25–30 millimeter version is available now. The 38–51 millimeter variant remains in the lineup.
