On October 24, 2022, Apple started to deliver a new version of its operating systems. Besides macOS Ventura (13.0), iOS, iPadOS and tvOS in version 16.1 as well as the latest watchOS (9.1) reached the public. The release notes of all software updates explicitly mention Matter. Apple’s ecosystem seems to be the first to be fully compatible with the new smart home standard. All that’s missing now are products that can be controlled using Matter from iPhone, HomePod & Co. We will know more on November 3, 2022. That’s when the official kickoff event of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) for the new standard will take place in Amsterdam.
